Spencer Mountain

Jim Shaw

has owned Spencer Mountain Grocery in Spencer Mountain for the past 13 years.

I like this town because … it’s kind of a peaceful place. It’s so nice in the summertime that it reminds me of the mountains.

What makes it special is … that it’s not that big. There are only nine occupied houses here, so there aren’t that many residents, but people come here from everywhere close by and you get to know them all.

A lot has changed over the years … The mill is no longer here, some of the houses have been torn down, but it’s still a pretty place with the trees.

The future of this town … is great. I’m sure we will have more housing coming, when I don’t know, but it will eventually come. But I don’t want us to lose our peacefulness.
